I (Jesus Christ) have come that they may have life, and they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.(Hebrews 9:28)

God does not want to do-Part 1

There are three things God does not want to do when He comes to you and me.

First, God does not want to impress or hinder us with His power.

Romans 15:18-19 says, For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient. In mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

These verses suggest us that God will confirm the truth of the gospel and draw people to Himself through His power. It is true that God in the twinkling of an eye can do this. But, He does not want us to receive Him merely because He is all-powerful as we see that many millions of people across all nations are yet to receive Him and accept Him. In other words, we need not have any wrong conception that if we do not receive Him, He will crush us instantly, take away our breath and end our lives. That is not a motive pleasing to God for us to receive Him. Rather, our motive should be love:

When we talk of Love, it is not that we loved God, but that God loved us and sent His Son to be the gift and as a sacrifice for our sins and by that we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. So God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this principle, love is perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgement; because as He is, so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because He first loved us.

Second, God does not want to attract us with His blessings. God is able to bless us in every area of our lives. He is able to give us all we need and much more. He is able to heal us, provide us with financial abundance, and solve all our problems. But He does not want us to receive Him merely on the basis of what we get from Him.

Third, God does not want to satisfy our mere intellectual Desire. For some people, life is like a jigsaw puzzle. A jigsaw puzzle is a game in which there will be many pieces and the pieces have to be put in the right place to complete the game. Likewise those whose life is like that of the puzzle have many different pieces, meaning priorities and one of which is labeled for God and they want to keep God in His "rightful" place which they feel right in their eyes. But let us know that God is not just like a piece in a puzzle. If we have that attitude toward Him, He will not reveal Himself to us.

What, then, does God want? God wants us to desire Him for Himself—apart from His power, His blessings, and any other benefit.
